Sonntag, 16. Mai 2010 22:33 |
A fully funded PhD position in Systems Biology "Systems modelling of translational control" is available for October 2010 entry at the Centre for Molecular Processing at the University of Kent.
The studentship will involve systems biology modelling of translational control mechanisms. The list of genetic diseases caused by mutations that affect translation is significant and includes various cancers and type II diabetes. Systems biology is a new discipline that employs a biology-based computational approach that focuses on complex interactions in biological systems to investigate the differences between healthy and diseased phenotypes.
This project is a part of ongoing collaboration between systems modelling, translational control and control engineering groups. The position offers an exciting opportunity to apply modern developments in systems biology to current needs of biotechnology and medicine.
