Position Descriptions
Treasurer:
We are looking for a committed person to take on the role of Treasurer, who is interested in managing the financial matters of our association and actively contributing to the board.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing our finances: processing payments, handling reimbursements, maintaining the bookkeeping, and keeping track of our bank account. You will also support the preparation of the annual budget, take care of the association’s taxes, and advise the board on financial matters. Additionally, you will handle administrative tasks such as managing the mailbox.
This position offers you the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in finance and accounting – a great asset for your CV.
At the same time, you will be involved in decision-making at board level, take on responsibility, and actively shape the association.
No prior experience is required – what matters most is an interest in numbers and finances, reliability, and a collaborative mindset.
IT:
We are searching for a reliable person for the position of IT Board member.
In this role you are responsible for the updating of the site and providing technical support for the other board members in collaboration with VSETH services.
In the position of IT you can gain knowledge on the practical functioning of a student organisation and the services that they need to function.
Prior knowledge like coding experience is not required. What is important is reliability and engagement with the team.
Student Affairs:
We are looking for a committed person to join our Student Affairs team and actively help shape student life in our department.
In this role, you will be responsible for organising and coordinating a variety of events — including the Erstitag (campus tour & lunch), Göttiabend, and the Semesterendapéro, as well as our Industry x Academia event. You will also take care of collecting and coordinating student feedback (Blockkurs and Semesterfeedback), organise PVK courses, and handle much-loved traditions like distributing Easter and Christmas chocolate.
This position gives you the chance to get actively involved in student life, take on responsibility, and connect with fellow students. At the same time, you gain valuable experience in event organisation and coordination — a great addition to your CV.
No prior experience is required — what matters most is motivation, reliability, and enjoyment of working in a team.
University Politics:
Are you interested in student politics and want to help represent the interests of biology students? Then the HoPo Extern position might be perfect for you!
In this role, you will represent biology students within VSETH, our umbrella organization, by participating in the Fachvereinsrat (FR). Together with the VeBiS delegation, you will also attend the Mitgliederrat (MR), where important decisions are made, including the election of the VSETH board and the approval of budgets and financial reports.
This position gives you the opportunity to gain insight into university-wide student representation, contribute to important discussions, and actively shape student life at ETH.
No previous experience is required—curiosity, reliability, and an interest in student representation are what matter most.
Culture:
We are looking for a creative and motivated person for the Culture Department who is eager to enrich the social life of biology students with a variety of exciting events!
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping our leisure activities. You will plan and organize events that go beyond everyday university life—ranging from cozy game nights to larger excursions. A central part of the role involves meeting with the “Kulturis” of other student associations to exchange ideas and coordinate joint activities. This ensures that the cultural offerings for our students remain diverse and fosters a strong connection with students from other departments.
This position offers you the perfect platform to implement your own event ideas and actively shape our association’s culture. You will meet many new people, make valuable contacts across different associations, and gain practical experience in event planning and organization.
No previous experience is necessary—what matters most is your organizational talent, your openness toward others, and the joy of bringing people together.
Communication & Design:
Are you someone who loves being creative and enjoys making sure everyone stays informed and connected? Then the Communications & Design position at VeBIS might be perfect for you!
In this role, you’ll take charge of the communication side of VeBiS. You’ll work closely with other board members to plan how upcoming events are promoted and advertised, while also collaborating with other student organizations. Through platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp, you’ll help ensure that VeBiS members are always up to date with everything happening throughout the semester.
One of the most exciting parts of this role is the creative freedom it offers. You’ll have the opportunity to design VeBiS merchandise such as hoodies, mugs, stickers, and much more. There’s something incredibly rewarding about creating designs and then seeing other students proudly using and wearing them!
Prior experience is not required. What matters most is your motivation, creativity, and reliability as part of the team.
